Backyard Mechanic’s Yoga

Living in the woods with no garage complicates all my auto repairs

Whenever possible I use jack stands

but today it is flat on my back

in the hopefully dry dirt

Cardboard has been my go to cush

Coffee sacks today smooth my way

Sliding barely beneath my truck

Squeezing past the muffler

Every motion constrained

by metal, hoses, weird shapes

bad angles for my human frame

Strange stresses, unused muscles

soon to be pulled or badly strained

Not possible to do a repair without

some new scrape or fresh wound

every time on every job

No matter how simple or small
